At the beginning of the workshops there will be a short interactive talk where we will explain the importance of polymers produced by bacteria (biopolymers) in the fight against petrochemical plastics. We will show images and cultures and do simple experiments to reveal how some bacteria produce plastics that degrade in nature (PHA) and how others produce cellulose (always biodegradable) much more resistant than that from trees. Then, the participants, divided into teams, will solve a series of logical chained tests, escape room type, where there will be some puzzles and tests related to molecular biology and chemical methods that we usually use in the laboratory.
