The workshop will explain basic concepts about retinal structure and visual function and will allow participants to experience situations faced by people with retinal pathologies.
A brief explanation of the work carried out at CIB by the researchers will provide details on the structure of the retina, the disease retinitis pigmentosa, and the mechanisms developed for its treatment.
Moreover, three interactive stations will be organize:
(1) Glasses: Activity consisting of performing different everyday activities using glasses that simulate the progression of the retinitis pigmentosa eye disease (e.g., tunnel vision glasses and complete blindness).
(2) Puzzle: Reconstructing a retina from puzzle pieces.
(3) Farnsworth Test: Test consisting of arranging pieces of different tones and colors in chromatic order. The test will be performed with normal vision, glasses that simulate color blindness, and low light.
