The activity consists of a talk on how pharmaceuticals present in the wastewater leaving our homes can reach the environment and, through surface water, end up in the food we eat. Special emphasis will be placed on antibiotics because of their relevant impact on the selection of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and this aspect will be discussed in depth. The activity will be the vehicle to raise awareness about the responsible use of antibiotics and the importance of taking expired medicines to the recycling point (SIGRE in Spain).
