Hello! I am Sonia Wagner Reguero, a researcher at the Biomarkers, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics Laboratory at the CIEN Foundation (Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases). Our work focuses on identifying biochemical markers associated with neurodegenerative diseases within a multidisciplinary environment.

I have a PhD in Biology with a specialisation in Industry, although my background is in Biochemistry and I have a Master's degree in Microbiology. Throughout 10 years of research experience, I have worked in different areas. My first foray was in my final degree project, where I researched new genetic variants related to celiac disease.

At a personal level, I love attending many types of events, from neighbourhood or village parties and themed events to scientific and educational activities. I am passionate about talking about science. I also enjoy mountain trails, and I play padel tennis as a hobby. I am also an animal lover, especially my border collie, Toe, who accompanies me whenever possible. In my casual free time, I am interested in fashion, keeping up with trends, and the proper use of social media.
