About me

Complutense University of Madrid in 2021 and finished her master’s in medical biology in 2024 at the same university. In June 2023, Nerea started working as a Research Assistant, funded by “Programa Investigo”, in the Microbial Stress and Bacteria-Protozoa Interaction group at the Faculty of Biology of the Complutense University of Madrid, led by Dr. Francisco Amaro Torres. Nerea focused her research on the opportunistic pathogen Burkholderia cenocepacia, specifically studying how protozoan predation influenced the bacteria's stress resistance and antibiotic tolerance. Since October 2024, Nerea has been working as a Research Assistant at the IMDEA Nutrition Institute, in the Cellular and Molecular Gerontology group, under the supervision of Dr. Alberto Díaz-Ruiz. Her current research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular aging and potential interventions to improve health in old age.
