Sandra Serrano del Hoyo


About me

PhD in Molecular Biosciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2022), specialized in genetics and cell biology. She has worked at the Astrobiology Center (INTA-CSIC) and completed her thesis at IIB-UAM and CIB-CSIC on Polycomb proteins and hematopoietic cells. At CIOCC (HM Hospitals), she researched 3D tumor cultures and biomarkers in COVID-19 patients. She has contributed to the cell culture service at CIB Margarita Salas and coordinated its Bioethics and Biosafety Committee. She is currently part of the “Degradation and Durability of Metallic Biomaterials (DeBio)” group (CENIM-CSIC) as a technician in the microbiological corrosion laboratory. She also participates in the FECYT science outreach project “Ciencia para todxs.”
