PhD in Chemical Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid (1997), with a specialization in Applied Physical Chemistry. She completed a postdoctoral stay at the Institute for Advanced Materials (JRC, Italy) under a European Commission contract. Since 2001, she has been a Tenured Scientist at CENIM-CSIC, where she leads the “Degradation and Durability of Metallic Biomaterials” (DeBio) research group, focused on metallic biomaterials and microbiologically induced corrosion. Since 2022, she has been the scientific head of the microbiological corrosion laboratory and is part of the FECYT science outreach project “Ciencia para todxs.”
