About me

Hi! I’m Sonia, a chemist, biochemist, and a big fan of the brain, that mysterious organ running the show… even when we forget why we walked into the kitchen. I studied a double degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry because I wanted to understand life from the tiniest pieces. Now I’m researching new drugs to treat neurodegenerative diseases, trying to figure out what happens when the brain stops working as it should. I love translating science into everyday language, because understanding what’s going on inside us helps connect us on the outside too. When I’m not in the lab, you’ll probably find me playing piano, guitar or drums — or giving it my all on the rugby field with my team. Science is how I ask questions. Music and sports are how I breathe between answers.
