I am Laura Torroja, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology (Animal Physiology) at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Since the beginning of my academic career, I have been fascinated by the development and function of the nervous system. Throughout my research, I have used Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism to investigate topics ranging from the molecular mechanisms of neuronal development to the processes involved in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. When I'm not working with neuronal preparations, I enjoy skiing.
