About me

Hi! I’m Nerea. Throughout my scientific career, I have had the opportunity to work in different laboratories and take part in various projects, which has allowed me to learn from multiple perspectives and spark new questions. I am currently immersed in the fascinating and challenging world of neurodegenerative diseases, a topic on which I am developing my doctoral thesis. I study what happens when the brain starts to shut down, when memories fade, when the simplest movements become a challenge.

Since I was little, I have liked science, not only because of the answers it offers, but also because of the questions it raises. I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and being able to awaken that curiosity in others. I believe that knowledge has real value when it is shared; that’s why science communication is very important to me. Also, science doesn’t have to be a hermetic language, it can be clear and very approachable!

Outside the lab, I consider myself an active person. I love doing sports, going for walks, and enjoying nature. And what I value the most is spending time with my friends and family.
