I am a Biologist, PhD from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary of the UCM.
My research work focuses on the identification and characterization of antimicrobial peptides produced by bacteria (bacteriocins) using microbiological and genomic techniques, as well as the development of synthetic biology tools for their production and improvement. I have published several scientific articles, participated in patents and led different national and international research projects related to this area.
I have consolidated my scientific career both in prestigious foreign universities: Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU, Norway), University of Minnesota (UMN, USA) and University College Cork (UCC, Ireland); as well as in biotechnology companies: Lessafre (France) and Syngulon (Belgium).
I enjoy playing basketball, cooking, cinema and above all traveling and learning about new cultures.
