About me

I have a PhD in Veterinary Sciences and I am currently working as a Permanent Lecturer in the Departmental Section of Nutrition and Food Science at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid, where I teach Food Hygiene, Inspection and Food Safety. My main line of research focuses on the safety assessment and the genomic and functional characterization of bacteria producing antimicrobial peptides (bacteriocins). Throughout my research career, I have also participated in other lines of research, such as the study of the immune response in fish of commercial interest (turbot and rainbow trout) at the Animal Health Research Center (CISA) of the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA-CSIC, Spain), and the evaluation of the role of pathobionts in the development of rheumatoid arthritis at the Centre for Immunobiology (Queen Mary University of London, UK). In addition to enjoying research, my hobbies include dancing, an activity that allows me to release stress, and traveling to beach destinations to walk by the sea.
