In the run-up to European Researchers' Night, the Scientific Culture Unit of the Nursing Research Institute of the General Nursing Council (CGE) and the Research Institute of Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda Hospital are organizing an activity aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle habits, such as physical exercise, in the context of chronic and oncological diseases. Several recent research studies and clinical guidelines highlight the positive impact of exercise as a complementary therapeutic tool for cancer patients.
At the same time, this activity addresses another need: bringing scientific knowledge and the work of researchers closer to the public in a comprehensible, emotional, and participatory way. This combats misinformation, fosters early scientific vocations, and strengthens public trust in evidence and biomedical research.
The methodology of this activity combines scientific outreach adapted to non-specialist language, interdisciplinary talks and performances with real-life testimonies and live demonstrations of patients in training, emotional and collective participation through interactive dynamics, and inter-institutional collaboration (hospital, city council, training centers, CGE).
