We are going to discover how advanced renewable biofuels can be produced from forest, agricultural, or urban waste that cannot be recycled. With the help of a transparent model, we will explain the processes used to convert this waste into biofuels such as renewable diesel, methanol, or hydrogen. We will see how the waste is converted into gas, how this gas is cleaned, and how it is ultimately transformed into biofuel. We will be able to observe how particles and gases move and transform throughout each stage of the process. In addition, the activity will include animations, posters, molecular models, and samples of the waste and renewable biofuels that can be used in cars, ships, or airplanes.

This activity is carried out within the framework of the European project GREENGAS: Extending Green gas applications from gasification, the Cátedra UC3M-Repsol sobre combustibles renovables, and the projects TED2021-131962 B-I00 (MOBIOSYS), CNS2022-136012 (BioGEC), and PID2023-152868OB-I00 (BIOVECTORS) of the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI).
