About me

Adrián Martín developed his PhD in neuronal aging at the Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa (CBMSO, Madrid) in 2017. Then, he did a postdoctoral stay at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, working in the relationship of autophagy with aging and Parkinson’s disease. He joined IMDEA Nutrition in 2023, focusing in the influence of microbiome on metabolism and aging. His research uses bioinformatic and artificial intelligence approaches to understand how alterations in this relationship can lead to disease onset, in particular of neurodegenerative disorders. Also, to comprenhend how our nutrition, through its connection with metabolism and microbiome, can modulate a healthy development of aging or favor its turn into disease. The idea is first to understand better those interconnected processes. Then, to develop predictive tools for those conditions that could facilitate and early identification of symptoms and prevent disease progression. Finally, to design nutritional interventions to influence on these mechanisms and promote the development of a healthy aging.
