About me

I have a degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), although my research career has taken me to work in laboratories in different corners of the world, such as the Netherlands and the United States. Now, I am back in Madrid, working in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the UAM thanks to the Community's Talent Attraction program. My mission? To unravel the molecular mechanisms that make our neurons start behaving as if they had forgotten to be neurons in neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. But it's not all microscopes and proteins. In my spare time I swap pipettes for crime novels, science fiction series, walks in the countryside and, of course, good conversations with friends.
