Fernando Chaguaceda Borjabad
About me
My name is Fernando Chaguaceda, and I have a biology degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain) and I am PhD in Biology by Uppsala University (Sweden). Currently, I hold a postdoc position at IMDEA Water institute studying the effects of cyanobacterial blooms across ecosystem boundaries on aquatic insects and pollinators. As a limnologist who studies the ecology of inland waters, I am interested in the effects of multiple drivers such as climate change, land use changes and biodiversity loss on aquatic ecosystem function. Such threats can largely alter the flows of energy and essential nutrients through food webs and between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, which can also shape the ecology and evolution of species in response to changes in their environment. Outside work you can find me mainly in the outdoors either fishing, birding, hiking, playing tennis or sketching.
