About me

My name is Alicia Uceda Heras, I have a degree in Biology, a Master's in Neuroscience, and I am currently a PhD student in the Neuroscience Program at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM-Cajal). I am currently working as a research assistant in the Neuropathology and Biobank Department at Fundación CIEN.

Throughout my research career, I have been at multiple research centers and studied various fields of life sciences, but I found a special calling in Neuroscience, specializing in neurodegenerative disorders.

For my PhD, I am currently studying the histology of the human temporal lobe in relation to Alzheimer's disease (AD) at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

At Fundación CIEN, where I work, we focus on studying the neuropathological and molecular phenotypes underlying neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, cerebrovascular dementias, and Lewy body disease, among many others. We also have a major research focus on the clinical-pathological correlations of dementia patients, the interactions between different pathologies, and, as a new approach, the integration of these analyses with artificial intelligence tools.

In my free time, I am a huge film lover, a fan of board games, plants and animals, and of course, nature in all its glory, which I enjoy whenever I can get away on a trip.
