About me

Hello! My name is Alicia Ruiz González, and I am currently working as a predoctoral researcher at the Fundación Centro de Investigación de Enfermedades Neurológicas (Fundación CIEN) in Madrid.

Since I was a child, I have had a deep passion for science, life, and understanding the world around us. I have always been curious about how things work and, above all, I have had the desire to help cure sick people. This interest led me to study Biology at the University of Granada (UGR), where I completed my undergraduate thesis (TFG) on the use of magnetite, obtained from Magnetococcus marinus, for its application in clinical cancer therapy. This experience strengthened my interest in biomedical research, which prompted me to pursue a Master's degree in Biotechnology and Biomedicine at the University of Jaén (UJA).

During the Master's program, I developed my Master's thesis (TFM) in collaboration with the Jaén University Hospital Complex and the Genyo center in Granada, focusing on the search for biomarkers for the diagnosis of triple-negative breast cancer.

Currently, I am pursuing my PhD at Fundación CIEN, where I am researching the characterization, differentiation, and diagnosis of synucleinopathies through the study of alpha-synuclein seeding.

As for my hobbies, in addition to spending time with my friends and engaging in outdoor activities, especially going to the beach, I am passionate about history, anthropology, and culture in general. I love attending the theater, visiting museums, and traveling, always immersing myself in the culture of every place I visit.
