About me

Ismael Buño Borde graduated in Biological Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) in June 1991, Graduated with a Degree (Thesis modality) from the UAM with the highest qualification of "Outstanding" and "Extraordinary Bachelor's Award" in July 1992 and Doctor of Sciences (Biological - Genetics) from the UAM, with the qualification of "Apt Cum Laude unanimously" and "Extraordinary Doctorate Award" in April 1997. He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Cellular Biology, Fac. of Medicine, from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) since 2019, Faculty of the Hematology and Hemotherapy service of the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón (HGUGM) since 2001, Director of the Genomics Unit of the HGUGM since 2015 and Scientific Director of the Gregorio Marañón Health Research Institute (IiSGM) since 2015. He has 2.5 years of professional experience in different prestigious foreign institutions , including the East Anglia Univerity (United Kingdom), Nijmegen Hospital (Holland), Mayo Clinic (USA) and Stanford University (United States). He has been an Associate Professor of the Cellular Biology Department, Faculty of Medicine, of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) between 2019 and 2024. He has published more than 110 articles indexed in PubMed (14 as first author and 30 as last author or corresponding author) with 2591 accumulated citations and h-index of 26.
