My name is Alejandra Martorell Múgica, and I am currently working as a pre-doctoral researcher in the Biotechnological Processes Unit at IMDEA Energía. Since I was a child I have been passionate about science in all its fields, so when I finished high school I decided to study Environmental Sciences (UAH). I did my dissertation in the field of biorefinery to obtain high added value molecules, which led me to become interested in biotechnology in general. Because of this I decided to do a master's degree in Environmental and Industrial Biotechnology (UCM). I am currently doing my PhD at IMDEA Energía, researching on the production of biocompounds and energy vectors by anaerobic fermentation.
As for my hobbies, I really enjoy crocheting clothes and reading books (especially fantasy books). I also like to spend time with my friends, and play board or computer games.
