Thomas Virazels
About me
Thomas completed two master's degrees at INSA Toulouse (France) focusing on Industrial and Mechanical Engineering and Research in Mechanics. He was an intern at CERN (Switzerland) for six months to carry out his final master's project. During this stay, he was working on the physical properties (mechanical and thermal) of micrometric yarns in Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) for extreme conditions such as very high temperature, for example. The aim of his PhD is to give a better understanding of the phenomena that appear during high velocity impacts. Spall fracture and ring fragmentation are the most famous cases in this area. This PhD is part of the THEOREM project of the NSM group at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). Outside this technical field, Thomas is interested in sport and more precisely in rugby and practices swimming every week.
