About me

Manuel Soler is Full Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), where he is Director of the PhD Programme in Aerospace Engineering and leads the Aeronautical Operations Laboratory. His research interests focus on optimal control, stochastic processes, meteorology and climate change with application to the aviation sector. Manuel has done research stays at ETH Zürich and UC Berkeley, and has been a visiting professor at MIT. He is currently coordinating the European project E-CONTRAIL, as well as participating as principal investigator in other European and national projects. Throughout his career he has been awarded the SESAR prize for young European scientists in 2013 and the Luis Azcárraga prize of the EnAire foundation in 2016 and 2019 and 2023. Manuel has a strong vocation for the dissemination and transfer of results, highlighting: the publication of open source libraries; the dissemination activities in the Researchers' Night and/or the Madrid Science and Innovation Week; the dissemination of results in videos, radio interviews and press releases translated Manuel is the father of a girl and a boy, with whom he enjoys getting into their world, playing and learning. He enjoys travelling, sports and any kind of artistic and cultural activity. He is also a writer and has published the children's story ‘La que Luce’ and several fiction texts in volumes of short stories and digital platforms such as Zenda and Noviembre Nocturno.
