Carlos Sanmiguel Vila is a senior scientist in the Department of Optoelectronics and Missilistics at the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) and associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M). Aeronautical Engineer in 2014 by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and PhD in Fluid Mechanics with international mention and Extraordinary Doctorate Award by the UC3M. His area of interest is experimental fluid mechanics, where he studies how to improve heat transfer or reduce aerodynamic drag in problems related to the aerospace world. In addition, he also explores how artificial intelligence algorithms can be exploited to help improve experimental techniques and the aerospace industry. With extensive teaching experience, he participates as a tutor in external internships for students and in outreach activities where he tries to teach them in a hands-on way what laboratory work is like. He is a big fan of tennis, live music and building Legos.
