About me

Julio J. Lado Garrido holds a PhD from the University of Alcalá. He graduated in Chemistry at the University of Alcalá (UAH) developing part of his studies at TU-Darmstadt (Germany). After finishing his Master in Hydrology and Water Resources Management at UAH and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, he started his PhD thesis at the IMDEA-Water Research Institute in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). In 2014 he obtained a postdoctoral fellowship granted by the Brazilian research agency CAPES to work at the Federal University of São Carlos (São Paulo, Brazil). In February 2017 he obtained a postdoctoral fellowship from the Madrid Regional Government's talent attraction programme and started working at IMDEA Energía, with his work continuing in 2022 when he was awarded a senior researcher contract within the same programme.
His research focuses on the use of electrochemical technologies for environmental applications always from the perspective of the Water-Energy Nexus. J.J. Lado has published more than 30 papers, is the author of two patents and has participated in more than 35 international conferences.
In his spare time J.J. Lado practices different sports ranging from indoor football to mountain biking. He is also a great enthusiast of live music and for more than 15 years he has participated in two radio programmes on Radio Universitaria de Alcalá de Henares (RUAH).
