Alicia María Prieto Orzanco
About me
I have a PhD in Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid, I work as a senior researcher at the Margarita Salas Biological Research Center (CIB-CSIC), and I belong to the Microbial Systems and Protein Engineering group. My interests have always focused on the field of Microbiology, a discipline that I am passionate about. In recent years I have investigated the capacity of fungi and their enzymes to transform waste of different types, reducing their toxicity or converting them into compounds of industrial interest, such as biofuels, bioplastics, or nutraceuticals. Outside of the laboratory, I enjoy listening to music, reading, watching birds, and playing or walking with my pets.
