About me

Sara García Linares obtained her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2017. She completed a two-year postdoctoral stay at Harvard Medical School, where she structurally and functionally characterized one of the proteins involved in the Hedgehog cell signaling pathway. She is currently a professor and researcher in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her research has focused mainly on the study of the structure-function relationships of toxic proteins from sea anemones and insects, with special interest in their interaction with biological membranes and the role played by lipids in this interaction.
She has a great interest in scientific dissemination and since her predoctoral period she has regularly participated in events organized during Science Week, the European Researchers' Night and the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, among others. She has also participated in and led teaching innovation projects. In 2010, she obtained the Professional Music Degree in the specialty of violin from the Rodolfo Halffter Professional Music Conservatory. Since then, she has combined her scientific activity with participation in different orchestras:
