Marco Antonio Pereyra Camacho
About me
Postdoctoral researcher of the ReCREA Project in the Polymer Biotechnology group (CIB-CSIC). I studied Biotechnology Engineering at the Technological Institute of Sonora (ITSON) and completed my master's and doctoral degrees in Molecular Biology at the Potosino Institute for Scientific and Technological Research, A.C. (IPICYT) in Mexico. Currently, my work focuses on applying synthetic biology and systems biology tools to Acinetobacter baylyi for the production of wax esters or their precursors from conventional plastic waste, aiming to obtain bio-derived monomers for the synthesis of chemically recyclable plastics. Outside the laboratory, I enjoy engaging in science outreach with children and teenagers, watching series and movies, traveling, and spending time with friends. I love spicy food and tacos.
