María Bajo Fernández

About me

PhD candidate in the Centre of Metabolomics and Bioanalysis (CEMBIO) at the Faculty of Pharmacy (CEU-San Pablo University).

Maria Bajo Fernández was born in Madrid 1998. She received a B.Sc Degree in Biochemistry in Autónoma University of Madrid and a M.Sc in Microbiology in the same university. Currently, she is in the third year of the Ph.D. program, supported by a CEU-Santander FPI grant, at the Center of Excellence in Metabolomics and Bioanalysis (CEMBIO) within the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University San Pablo CEU. Her research focuses on conducting metabolomics studies using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for the analysis of gut microbiota-derived metabolites and volatile organic compounds in biofluids and breath. María has previously published 2 scientific publications in this field and has presented her research in several national and international conferences.

Maria has a great interest in culture and art, so she regularly goes to museums, exhibitions and shows. In addition to appreciating art, she also experiences it, having taken dance classes since she was a child. Her curiosity for science is transferred to her appreciation for nature, being passionate about taking walks and discovering idyllic corners. But what she enjoys most is sharing those moments with her friends and family.
