Carmen Sanz Miguel
About me
I am Senior Lecturer in the Department of Cell Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid. I completed my PhD at the Autonomous University of Madrid in 1999, for which I received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. Since then, I have been dedicated to research and teaching. I have had the privilege of training and working at various national and international research centers, including the IIB Sols-Morreale (CSIC) in Madrid, Guys Hospital and the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurology in London, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in California (USA), CIBERDEM, and the Complutense University of Madrid.
My research falls within the field of Biomedicine. I study the mechanisms that control the development of diabetes and obesity, as well as growth factors and molecules that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and death.
I have had the opportunity to supervise students in their doctoral theses, undergraduate and master's projects. I deeply value the training of students and young researchers. This dedication, along with scientific outreach activities to society, are aspects I enjoy and find most rewarding.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy nature, traveling, music, and above all, sharing these moments with friends.
