Lesly Ayala Cabana
About me
Lesly is a predoctoral researcher in the Soil and Water Quality in the Environment group at IMDEA Water Institute. Currently, she is working in Nath4Health project, and her research is focused on the assessment of the risk to health derived from the use of contaminated surface water to grow crops for human consumption. Before, due to her willingness of doing research in international contexts, she did an internship of in the Geomar Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel (Germany) where she collaborated in projects investigating explosive organic compounds in seawater.
Previously, she obtained her BSc in Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid. During her university education she became interested in projects and initiatives related to water and soil quality and, accordingly, she participated in volunteering with social and environmental organizations. The increasing interest for such topics, was the motivations that led her to complement her postgraduate training with the master’s degree in Ecosystem Restoration.
She loves walking in nature, travel and discover new places and cultures.
