About me

Beatriz Jurado Sánchez is Professor at the University of Alcalá, where she has also been a Ramón y Cajal researcher since 2017. She earned her degree in Chemistry from the University of Jaén in 2004 and her PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Córdoba (2009) under the supervision of Prof. Mercedes Gallego and Prof. Evaristo Ballesteros. In 2013, she received a Marie Curie IOF Grant from the European Commission to conduct research on micromotors at the University of California San Diego, under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Wang. In 2016, she received the Young Researchers Award from the University of Alcalá. She has continuously participated (as PI or team member) in more than 10 research projects obtained through international calls (European Commission, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, USA) as well as the National R&D&I Plan or the University of Alcalá’s Own Plan. She is the co-author of 90 scientific articles (h-index, 39), 5 international book chapters, and 20 oral presentations at international conferences. She is an editor of the journal RSC Advances and a member of the Early Career Board of the journal Analytical Chemistry. She has significant collaborations with renowned scientists such as Prof. Joseph Wang from the University of California San Diego and Prof. Qiang He from the Harbin Institute of Technology. During her stay in the USA, she gained extensive experience in the synthesis of Janus tubular micromotors for environmental, biomedical, and sensing applications.

One of her main hobbies is reading novels, walking long hours through Alcalá de Henares, and bird watching.
