About me

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Salamanca and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biosciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid. I conducted my doctoral research at the Margarita Salas Center for Biological Research (CIB-CSIC), focusing on the metabolism of aromatic compounds in the bacterium Aromatoleum sp. CIB and its applications for degrading harmful compounds and producing bioplastics. Afterward, during my postdoctoral work at various institutions, including the CIB and the IMDEA Energy Institute, I was involved in several European projects aimed at valorizing waste (plastics, agricultural residues) through biotechnology applied to different microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, and yeasts) for their biotransformation into value-added products such as bioplastics or biofuels.
As a geek, in my free time, I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels, playing video games, traveling to experience new cultures, going to the theater or concerts, and hiking or mountain biking.
