New 3D (three dimensions) techniques are revolutionizing the way we see the space around us and share it with others. In prehistory (about 40,000 years ago) drawing and painting appeared, manual methods used to represent the world around us in 2D (two dimensions). But our ancestors soon realized that these representations were missing something, in Altamira (about 35,000 years ago) there was another great revolution, they managed to represent, in this case bison, in 3D taking advantage of the relief of the rocks on those who painted It was not until the s. XV, when the foundations of perspective in painting were laid, and we were then able to capture reality in 3D, but only images of it in 2D. About ten years after photography was invented (around 1850) stereoscopic photographs, which simulated perspective, already appeared. Now we can capture reality in 3D directly and share ideas and points of view of it, with all its dimensions. There are various techniques for capturing space in 3D, photogrammetry and 3D scanning are the ones that have evolved the most in recent years. New applications of these techniques appear every day, some of which are very popular, such as cinema and video games, but there are also applications in medicine, engineering, architecture, and in a variety of fields of science and our lives.
