Do you know what the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is and what are its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? The 2030 Agenda is a roadmap agreed by all the countries of the world to build the foundations for a better present and future. It is a commitment to social progress, environmental balance and economic growth, which focuses on many of the global challenges facing human beings, such as climate change, water scarcity, inequality and hunger.
Did you know that science plays a key role in meeting many of the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda? In fact, science provides solutions to many of the global challenges such as universal access to food, energy, health coverage or communication technologies. It is not for nothing that the UN has declared the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development 2022/2023. While it is true that practically all the SDGs require the contribution of science and technology, their role in environmental protection is central: combating climate change or the depletion of the ozone layer, combating the depletion of natural resources and the loss of biodiversity, waste management, air quality, etc.
Do you want to know more about the 2030 Agenda and how science helps to meet many of these SDGs? Do you want to know what are the main environmental problems affecting the world and how they can be solved through science? We will be holding a quiz where participants will compete in groups, and the best ones will receive a prize. Are you up for it?
