About me

Elena Bandín is a tenured professor at the University of León (Spain), where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on English Literature and Gender Studies. She has conducted extensive research on the reception of Shakespeare's works in Spain during the 20th century, with a particular interest in translation, performance, censorship and adaptation. She is a member of the research project ‘Shakespeare in Spanish and European Culture III’ coordinated by the University of Murcia. She is also a member of the TRACE (TRAnslations CEnsored) research team at the University of León. She has published articles in national and international journals such as SEDERI Yearbook, Cognitive Linguistics and Critical Survey. More recently, she has co-edited, together with Francesca Rayner and Laura Campillo, Othello in European Culture (John Benjamins, 2022) and has contributed chapters to volumes including Romeo and Juliet in European Culture (John Benjamins, 2017); Shakespeare and Cultural Appropriation (Routledge, 2023) and Shakespeare and Comics: Negotiating Cultural Value (The Arden Shakespeare, Bloomsbury, 2024).
