Beatriz Arce López

About me

She holds a PhD in Food Science, Physiology and Health, with a focus on Analytical Chemistry, an MSc in Research, Development and Drug Innovation, and a BSc in Chemistry, from the University of Navarra (Spain). She was awarded with a fellowship from the EU-FORA Programme (European Food Risk Assessment Fellowship, EFSA) to conduct advanced training in food risk assessment, where she focused on the combined toxicity of mycotoxin mixtures using in vitro (2D and 3D) cellular models at LUBEM (Université de Bretagne Occidentale, France). She later received a competitive MSCA-COFUND BIENVENÜE fellowship, also in France, where she continued developing advanced in vitro toxicological models to study the effects of food contaminants, integrating biochemical, molecular, and analytical approaches (e.g., LC-MS/MS, LC-QTOF).
With a strong background in analytical chemistry, toxicology and development of in vitro models, her research focuses on human biomonitoring of food contaminants, particularly mycotoxins, and their health impacts.
She has been involved in several national and international research projects and scientific conferences, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in the fields of food safety and human exposure assessment. Her scientific contributions include several first-author, peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at IMDEA Nutrition, working on the DiBaN project (Linking Intestinal Bacteria and Host Metabolism to Tackle Type 2 Diabetes with Novel Food), funded by the HORIZON-EIC-2023-PATHFINDERCHALLENGE program.
