Celia Parrado Castaño
About me
I am a predoctoral researcher in the Polymer Biotechnology group at the Margarita Salas Biological Research Centre (CIB-MS). I graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Seville, subsequently specialising in Biotechnology through a Master's degree in Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology at Complutense University of Madrid. I am currently working on my doctoral thesis within the Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine programme at this institution. My research forms part of the SMARTERIAL project, which focuses on designing biomaterials with programmed functionality in the environment. Specifically, I am working on encapsulating predatory microorganisms, such as Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus, in polyhydroxyalkanoate and cellulose capsules for use as environmental biocontrol agents.
Outside of the lab, I enjoy sports, spending time in nature and travelling. I try to experience new places and perspectives whenever I can.
