Carmen Martínez Alonso

About me

Carmen Martínez Alonso is a scientist and artist. She studied a degree in Chemistry at the University of Burgos and a degree in Hispanic language and literature at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia.
She is currently doing her PhD in Computational Chemistry between the Complutense University of Madrid and the IMDEA Materials Institute, but she has been trained in seven different universities: UBU, UNED, UIMP, UCM, Millersville University of Pennsylvania (USA), University College Dublin (Ireland) and Stanford University (USA). Although he has a background in organometallic chemistry and polymer science, his current research focuses on the design of new catalysts for the hydrogen economy and green energy generation through simulation and artificial intelligence tools.
Although she is insultingly young, she has traveled all over the world and has won awards such as the Extraordinary End of Degree Award, the Excellence in University Career Award, the JAE-Intro Award from CSIC or the Fulbright pre-doctoral scholarship.
But her passion for science has never stopped her artistic vein, she writes poetry, plays the piano and guitar and has been a great fan of dance since she was 5 years old. She defines herself as the "Da Vinci" of the 21st century and strives to take science out of the laboratory and bring it closer to the people. She has collaborated with Javier Santaolalla in his platform Amautas and has created outreach courses such as "Science and Art" and "Tasting Catalysis". His hobbies include theater, horseback riding and poetry.
