About me
Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Universidad San Pablo CEU. I have a degree in Biochemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid. I have always been intrigued by the brain, that marvellous organ that allows us to think, dream and process all the information from the world around us. For this reason, I devoted my doctoral thesis to studying a type of neurons with double DNA content at the Cajal Institute. During my pre-doctoral stage, I carried out a stay at University of New York. Afterwards, I did a postdoctoral stay at the University of Valencia analysing the formation of new neurons in the adult brain. I then spent 4 years at the Clinical Pharmacology Department of the Hospital Universitario de La Princesa as a postdoctoral researcher. During that time I worked in the area of pharmacogenetics looking for genetic markers of drug response in different diseases such as psoriasis and epilepsy. Since 2020 I combine my research work with teaching at San Pablo CEU University where I teach subjects related to Pharmacogenetics. I also participate in the NEUROFAN research group. My current projects focus on understanding the biological processes that occur in the brains of patients who do not respond well to pharmacological treatments for epilepsy. I enjoy travelling, reading, live music and photography and spending time with my family and friends.
