The research carried out in the UCM research group "Technologies based on Inorganic-Organic Hybrid Materials" is currently focused on the synthesis of orthovanadate and orthophosphate samples with small particle size that show fluorescent emission in the UV and/or NIR. These samples are characterised and studied to assess their potential application in different devices.
Nanosystems consisting of fluorescent and/or magnetic samples that are coated and functionalised are also prepared and studied to finally evaluate their possible application as systems that allow the removal of cations in non-drinking water or as devices that can enable the visualisation of diseased cells. In both cases, these coveniently functionalised samples can be removed or directed using external magnetic fields.
