Carlos Santos Pérez
About me
Carlos Santos Pérez was born in Madrid in 1985. In 2010, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering. In 2011, he completed a Master's program in Advanced Electronic Systems, Intelligent Systems. In 2016, he received his Ph.D. in Electronics from the University of Alcalá, earning the distinction of Cum Laude and International Doctorate Mention. In 2009, he began his professional activity in the academic field as a research fellow in the Electronics Department at the University of Alcalá. Since then, he has been associated with this department in various positions continuously until 2020, except for a 3-month period in 2016 when he worked for the company Gamesa Electric S.A. In 2020, he started his current position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Signal Theory and Communications.
His research activities are carried out in the GEISER group at the University of Alcalá. Within the group, he participates in numerous publicly and privately funded research projects focused on the efficient integration of renewable energies: energy communities, virtual power plants, blockchain electricity markets, communications for smart grids, optimal control of grid-connected converters, and the development of real-time embedded systems to implement control and communication algorithms. His main scientific contributions are detailed below: Co-author of 23 indexed scientific publications in JCR, of which 12 belong to the first quartile, 8 to the second quartile, and 3 to the third quartile. He is the first author of 7 of them. Co-author of 5 book chapters with ISBN, 4 of which are derived from his participation in internationally relevant peer-reviewed conferences. Co-author of 13 conference publications, 12 of which are international. Two predoctoral stays in the Netherlands, with a total duration of 6 months, and a 7-month postdoctoral stay at the Delft Center for Systems and Control (DCSC) belonging to the Delft University of Technology. Principal investigator of 2 publicly funded projects. Member of 14 publicly funded projects and 5 privately funded projects.
