About me

I am a botanist and evolutionary biologist. I studied CC. Biological Studies at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM; Autonomous Community of Madrid, CAM), where I also obtained the (formerly) Diploma of Advanced Studies (now Master's) in Evolutionary Biology and Biodiversity, with scholarships from both the Third Cycle of the UAM and the University Teacher Training (FPU) of the then MECD. Thanks to a scholarship from the Fulbright Commission in Spain, I completed my PhD at Duke University (North Carolina, USA).
After getting my PhD in Biology, I returned to Spain, where I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Royal Botanical Garden (RJB-CSIC; CAM). Subsequently, I worked at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew (RBGK; Surrey, GB), at the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP UPM-INIA/CSIC; CAM) and at the Botanical Institute of Barcelona (IBB CSIC-Ayto Barcelona, Catalonia), also as a postdoctoral researcher.
I am currently a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the RJB-CSIC, where I investigate the evolution of plants and fungi using both molecular methods (eg, massively parallel sequencing) and high-performance computing. Among other hobbies, I love to read, travel, visit museums, walk in the countryside, go to the movies and the theater, all in the company of my friends.
