Get ready to enter the exciting universe of fighting games! In this workshop, you will discover the design methods used by the video game industry to create iconic characters that have left their mark on the history of video games.
The fighting genre has been appreciated by the gaming community since its inception in the 1980s. Today, EVO, one of the largest E-Sports conventions in the world, brings together the best players in this genre to compete for huge prizes and make history in fighting games.
In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn about the results of the research carried out by Eduardo Arroyo in his doctoral thesis "Design analysis in fighting video game characters" (2021). You will learn about the character creation methods used in the industry and we will introduce you to two possible workflows for character development.
The most exciting part of the workshop will come when you get to experience for yourself what it feels like to control these characters in action. Using the home system PlayStation 4 and various titles within the fighting genre, you can immerse yourself in combat full of adrenaline. In addition, you will be able to capture qualitative and quantitative data from your experience, which will be used in a teaching innovation project.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn about fighting game character design and experience the thrill of controlling your own fighters! Sign up now and bring your fighting character to life in the virtual world!
