We tend to think of other living beings in two narrow categories: those that are useful to us and those that are not. With this workshop, we want to demonstrate that living beings do not have value solely in an instrumental sense, but rather that their value is intrinsic. To do this, we will begin with a preliminary exploration of the possible web of life in which a fly is embedded. Once the initial approaches have been presented, we will use interactive infographics to explore the complex network of relationships that link a common fly to other living beings, ecological processes, and social and human needs.
