Sara Castro Cobo

About me

I have a degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a PhD from the University of Seville, doing my thesis at the Doñana Biological Station.
My professional career has focused on the field of entomology and ecology, studying invasive alien species and working in conservation, mainly with ants and butterflies. Some of the projects in which I have participated have focused on the study of the resistance of ecosystems to biological invasions, the development of recovery plans for endangered species, the implementation of monitoring networks and climate change studies. I am currently working at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) on the elaboration of an Atlas and Red Book of the Butterflies of Spain. At the same time, I combine my career with teaching and dissemination, as I am passionate about communicating about the world of biology in general, and insects in particular.
In my free time, I like to dance lindy hop, act as an improvisational actress, go to the countryside, travel or simply enjoy a film or a book.
