The objective of this activity is to introduce secondary school and high school students to scientific research through a hands-on experiment. During this experiment, they will learn about the sensory and cognitive processes that are activated when we perceive and integrate stimuli from our environment and our bodies. By following the basic steps of the scientific method (formulating a question, proposing hypotheses, and testing them), participants will experience different sensations provided by real and virtual multisensory environments. They will also identify individual differences in how people respond to the same stimuli. Additionally, they will discover how the brain organizes and integrates information perceived through our senses and how this process influences the way we explore the world, learn, and interact with others. Through this activity, we will explore one of the applications of virtual reality technologies and interactive systems in the field of neuroscience and their use in the care and rehabilitation of individuals with functional diversity.
