The ten centers of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) located around the Cantoblanco Campus are joining forces once again to bring the best science to the streets in a large-scale event to be held at Espacio Fundación Telefónica. The European Researchers' Night 2024 will be celebrated on Friday, September 27, in the heart of Madrid. Here is all the information you need. At 5 PM, and until 8 PM, we will open the doors of our science fair at Espacio Fundación Telefónica to welcome anyone who wants to learn about CSIC's science in the most entertaining way possible. We will have 'stands' for attendees to visit, view, and experiment with our research staff. Additionally, we will schedule closed-door workshops at set times and with limited capacity to train our X-ray vision, extract DNA, explore plant biotechnology, learn about algae as an alternative food, and experience the antioxidant power of fruits. The exact schedule will be announced in September. This year, we will have an exciting new feature: a science monologue competition with two sessions (with different contestants in each). Staff from the ten CSIC centers will compete, and only one person (or team) can win in each session: Who tells science in the most entertaining way? The audience will decide with the infallible 'applause meter'. There will be laughter and, very likely, tears (of joy). Admission to all afternoon activities will be free until full capacity is reached, so we recommend arriving early to secure your spot.
