Seminar/workshop where we will discuss the effects of the language used to talk about cancer on a patient. More specifically, we will examine the potential advantages of changing the common "battle against cancer" metaphor for other alternative metaphors, far less conventional, which may help and modify the perception of the illness from one person to another. For that purpose, several alternative metaphors will be presented and a debate will be prompted to find out how the experience of living with cancer can be differently perceived in each one and what kind of patients will most benefit from using one of them or another in their ordinary conversations about the illness.
