The CSIC centres at Cantoblanco campus move to Madrid Puerta de Atocha railway station to join the European Researchers' Night and the European Trail Year. We will be all the afternoon, from 5pm to 9pm, at the tropical garden of Atocha station offering a science fair open to all ages. The entry is organized at two different time slots (starting at 5pm and 7pm) providing access to all activities in the garden.
Once there, you will learn about the nanoworld, how to explore it and how to apply it in a plethora of novel technologies, from medicine to advanced information storage. You will see vacuum techniques that allow us the manipulation of nano-objects, and you will know about theh operation of an electric car. You will also approach to the fascinanting world of superconductivity and levitation, that enables ultra-fast and safe trains.
There will be a corner about nutrition and health, to learn about the future of nutrition, how our senses work to allow us to taste food, and some keys to identify healthy drinks. Even including a practical demo of clean technologies to extract oil and obtain functional food.
We will visit the world of plants and its scientific possibilities, looking at processes to preserve biodiversity and to the development of biotechnologies to decontaminate water.
And for those fans to play, there will be different choices. Strategy games where maths help us to design the winner strategy. And a gymkhana to know the Nobel female scientists, and to rescue other women scientists whose contributions have not received a fair recognition.
Simply you cannot miss it!
